Michael Jackson the "King of Pop" who once moonwalked above the music world, died Thursday as he prepared for a comeback. At the time of his death, Jackson was rehearsing hard for what was to be his greatest comeback: He was scheduled for an unprecedented 50 shows at a London arena, with the first set for July 13.
Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.
Jackson was born in 1958, the seventh of nine Jackson children, and before he reached age six he had joined his brothers in the Jackson Five. By the age of eight he had taken over lead singing duties with brother Jermaine, but there was no question who was the star of the group. Little Michael was the best dancer and singer of the bunch, but he also had the mysterious thing that record bosses and studio chiefs crave: star power.
After his early success with bubblegum soul, he struck out on his own, generating innovative, explosive, unstoppable music. A solo career followed, and after a steady stream of middling hits that attempted to milk the last bit of innocence from Jackson's voice.At 22, Jackson not only became one of the most admired pop musicians in the world, but one of the globe's most famous people. And his fame only increased with the 1981 release of Thriller, which was to become the best-selling album of all-time (until it was eclipsed in the late '90s by The Eagles Greatest Hits, 1971-1975.).
While Jackson had few ambitions at the time beyond global domination, it's worth noting that "The Girl is Mine" established interracial love as a pop music theme and "Beat It" (with Eddie Van Halen's guitar solo) bridged arena rock and soul. On March 25, 1983, Jackson may have reached the very peak of his fame when he unveiled his signature dance move, the moonwalk, live on the "Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever" television special.
He was perhaps the most exciting performer of his generation, known for his backward-gliding moonwalk, his feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves and his high-pitched singing, punctuated with squeals and titters. His single sequined glove, tight, military-style jacket and aviator sunglasses were trademarks, as was his ever-changing, surgically altered appearance.He is considered one of the most successful entertainers of the past century, with a lifetime sales tally estimated at 750 million records and 13 Grammy Awards.
Jackson ranked alongside Elvis Presley and the Beatles as the biggest pop sensations of all time. He united two of music's biggest names when he was briefly married to Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie, and Jackson's death immediately evoked comparisons to that of Presley himself, who died at age 42 in 1977.
Michael Jackson may be dead... but, his music lives on...

Super (GOLD) Sunday

Wanted to wake up late but i was woken up earlier by my mum cause the aircon-servicing-fellow had to come. Stupid git... if i wasn't tired i would have smacked him on the face for disturbing my sleep. Decided not to go back to sleep and went to have KoKoCrunch for breakfast(yes! i bathed). Decided to go swimming pool with my bro and two other cousins early - to warm-up for the swimming competition in the afternoon. But, we ended up all eating alot so just went to the pool and sit down n' wait for our event. Ours was the 3rd event so we were like bored(no tension at all) waiting for ours... Finally it came it was a 4-ppl-a-team kinda race... where each team have 4 ppl and they have to go one by one... i was the 2nd swimmer(very fun)... We got the lead after i went in and we held the lead for pretty much the rest of that event(million-dollar team!!!). I think we were really good. We came out then took photos(there was still a couple of teams who had not finished). Got a gold medal... Then was fathers day but we could not go out as my dad was working... Nevermind there's always tomorrow... Wishing all Father's A Merry Fathers Day... Cheerz(+}

Father's Party

Hi People.... Just came back from Father's day Party at my Grandma's house... Quite fun la... All the kids bought a cake for the fathers and had them cut it... I made my aunts panic when they ask me carry the cake out by pretending to trip or slip then dance with the cake in one hand... Then they pass me the knife to cut cake, i started juggling it over the cake(living dangerously)... Had loads of fun with all of them... Haiz next week must go school for some lessons(hols also no peace - dumb teachers)... Nothing much to do... I think i got enough time to catch a movie before night-night... Cheerz(+}

!!!!!Wazzup!!!!!

Wazzup People! I woke up late todae(slept late last night - so entitled)... Being a guy, it took me onli 20mins to get a quick shower, change, get a sandwich and leave for tuition(yes... i'm studying...). Left my house a little late but arrived just in time for tuition. I was reading my friends blog earlier and got a shock at one of her post(weird... really weird...), i'll tell u guys about it sometime... Maybe after i get over my shock or laughing at her(whichever comes first or both)... Holidays have been soo fun and i've been having soo much fun. Hope u guys having fun too!!! Cheerz(+}

ShoutOut: Congratz to Jeff Hardy for winning the World HeavyWeight Championship after that wonderfully amazing Ladder match. Curses to the Idiot CM Punk who decided to cash in the "Money in the Bank" contract to steal the championship from Jeff Hardy 5mins later. CM Punk, you won the championship from a guy who just won a ladder match and whom was already tired. It still took u 2 finishers. Hardy is gonna be back at the top!

Had a reali fun week(if u do NOT count the part where i fell sick)... As promised in the previous post i had alot of fun... Went out... Prepared for my cousins wedding(had no idea weddings could be so fun)... The wedding itself was very fun... Got alot of photos.... Gratz to Suresh & Sangee... Cheerz(+}

Finished Tamil O'Lvls... Can onli brush up on my praying now... i gotta do it on first try peeps(i better do it)... I have been Personally slacking this whole week off... Basically doing wat i do best(i think u ppl already know...). But i think i'll be studying next week onwards... maybe... Till then... Cheerz(+}
